I haven't been keeping up with the download and transfer of pictures this month. A little catchup....

Gavin has a new toy box

A queen (such as myself) needs a new throne now and then. Today when I got home from work I was greeted by this sparkling white, water-saving, power-flushing gem of a new toiley. Thank you, Brandon! Almost as much fun as a new toilet is the box that it came in. When I went upstairs to greet Gavin he had the box filled with toys, various and sundry. Later this evening, after dinner (Gavin ate 2.5 ears of corn on the cob and still wanted more), we gathered 'round the toilet box for a little family music time...

Gavin really, really likes green beans.... this week. The prequel to this video (before I had the camera ready) included Gavin shoving fistfuls of beans into his mouth. I must have put four consecutive piles of frozen French-cut beans on his tray before I finally decided to capture the bean-a-thon on camera.

Gavin also liked kiwifruit today, after not liking it in two separate tries previously. Just goes to show that what they say is true: it sometimes takes 6 or 8 tastes before a kid will like a certain food. What they don't tell you is that the food they like one day will get flung across the room (or in some cases directly at your face) the next.

Gavin also really really likes to tease Joie and Brody. They're good sports, thank goodness. Sometimes Gavin throws the toys for the dogs to fetch. Sometimes he outright steals them. Sometimes he plays so hard he works up a mighty thirst and has to pause and refuel. I gather, from personal observation, that most toddlers are completely nutso. This particular young man is totally full of it (vim and vigor and piss and vinegar and snakes and snails and puppy dog tails) and his dad and I think he's pretty cute.

12 year celebration!

Julie and I celebrated our twelve anniversary together on Saturday. Nothing too fancy, just a nice breakfast by Julie and I made a nice dinner. We actually spent the day cleaning the house and doing yard work if you can imagine! Not a problem as we have been celebrating being together all summer long. Here are a few select pictures of our 12 wonderful years together. Julie, I love you with all my heart, mind, and soul. We had our ups and downs like most couples, but I am thankful that our love and friendship is and has been strong enough to see us through the hard times. You are my true soul mate, my best friend, and a wonderful mother.

Clever Ladies

I am so impressed by my friend Susan (and her support team which I'm sure includes Jonathan and Henry along with her mom).  Re-usable wrapping fabric.  What a clever, green, and just plain neat idea!

Then there's Raecale, the most talented knitter I know.  She now has a store on etsy.  Check out her Stull Caps and her other knitted goodies including super-cute baby beanies, toddler ponchos and pants, and clever little dollies.
